Ellie's Haven 10th Anniversary BallEllie’s Haven is staging a ball on the 18th of November at the Tencreek Holiday Park, near Looe, to mark its 10th anniversary.
![]() Nigel and his wife, Julie, founded Ellie’s Haven in November 2007 and the charity has undergone a remarkable journey since then. “We started with a dream - helping other families experiencing the same sort of pressures as we did with Thomas and then Ellie,” said Julie, referring to her and Nigel’s children that were born with complex medical conditions and passed away at early ages. “Hundreds of supporters - individuals, community groups, schools, businesses and charitable trusts - have helped us turn that dream into a reality. Words cannot express our heart-felt gratitude to everything that people have done to help us.” In the past 10 years, Ellie’s Haven has raised a total of about £1 million. It’s enabled the charity to buy a property in Duloe and then extend, adapt and equip it with specialised facilities to ensure that holidays are truly stress-free. Continuing help means that families with “special” children only have to pay a nominal booking fee for a holiday. Donations, fund-raising by supporters and profits from Ellie’s Haven’s charity shop in West Looe cover running costs that total about £50,000 a year. Ellie’s Haven has been providing holidays and sessions in its sensory studio for almost two years now. Testimonials on its website demonstrate that it’s much appreciated by guests. 6 Nov 2017 |
