Tamar Foods Staff Raise £5,000 for Ellie's Haven

18th August 2013:  Five teams of staff from Tamar Foods at Callington have raised £5,000 for Ellie’s Haven and £5,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and by taking part in the Samworth Brothers Charity Challenge.

The Challenge involved 83 teams from across Samworth Brothers companies taking on the ‘tough’ or ‘super tough’ courses over two weekends in Scotland. The punishing routes included a mountain hike, canoe paddle and mountain bike ride through the stunning Scottish scenery around Loch Lomond.

The team has been raising funds all year by doing collections, charity quizzes and car washes as well as sponsorship for taking on the physical challenges.

"Many, many thanks to the teams at Tamar Foods for picking Ellie's Haven as a charity and then doing so well in those grueling courses," said Nigel Libby, general manager and co-founder of Ellie's Haven.  "This £5,000 brings us another step closer towards being able to start conversion work on the property in Duloe, near Looe, that we bought last year.  It won't be long before we achieve our goal of providing a special place for special children - a holiday haven for families with children suffering long term and life limiting illnesses."
