Welcome to the Ellie's Haven website

We are a charity providing holidays to families caring for children with long term and life limiting illnesses.

Our goal is to help such families spend quality time together away from their normal surroundings, in a specially adapted property in the Looe Valley in Cornwall.

Our "special place for special children" has been designed to help families with disabled children have a stress-free holiday.  It is in a peaceful, secluded location and is equipped with built-in hoists, an assisted bath and other facilities, and we only charge a nominal fee for accommodation. Read our testimonials.

Our sensory studio is an Aladdinís cave of specialised equipment aimed at helping children with special needs develop a wide range of skills.

Holidays for families with children suffering long term and life limiting illnesses

Our sensory studio will bring relief to children with sight, hearing and other impairments.

Sensory Studio

Our property is tagged by the ambulance service so that emergencies should be dealt with rapidly but we donít offer medical support ourselves.  Guests need to organise their own respite care, if required.

Helping children with sight, hearing and other impairments

We offer three 90 minute sessions in our sensory studio, at 10am, 12pm and 2pm on weekdays.   It's free of charge for eligible children.

A big thank you to all our supporters

Our charity gets its name from Ellie, the daughter of Julie and Nigel Libby who founded Ellie's Haven. Ellie sadly passed away on 5th January 2012 just a few weeks before her seventh birthday. A big thank you to the hundreds of individuals, community organisations, businesses and charitable trusts that helped Ellieís Haven raise more than £800,000 to purchase this property and adapt it for use as a special type of holiday retreat.

Vote to help us create a sensory garden!

Ellieís Haven has put forward a proposal for a sensory garden, to complement our sensory studio, in a competition to win funding from the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF).We have been shortlisted so now we need as many people as possible to vote for us so we can secure the maximum grant of £25,000 - enough for us to buy all the specialised equipment we would like. Please click on this link, select Ellieís Haven and vote!
